About the iWRITER Magazine
Managed by the iWRITE Youth Club, iWRITER is a magazine written, designed, and published by kids for kids. iWRITER Magazine gives young people an opportunity to share their feelings and perspective with others. The 16-page quarterly magazine focuses on themes that interest young people. Each columnist (10-18 years old) writes personal and informational articles, fiction, non-fiction stories, and poetry dedicated to each issue’s topic and theme. The first digital magazine was released in May 2020 and focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed every student’s life.
Students from all over the world are invited to apply to write for the iWRITER. Meetings are held virtually. Contact Eshaan at eshaan.mani@kinkaid.org to learn more.
Issue 12 is all about growth and adaptation as we jump into the season of spring! It’s our third anniversary issue as well. Hope you enjoy reading this issue!
Our 2-year anniversary issue is out! This issue of the iWRITER is all about appreciating nature! There is a diverse array of articles, poems, and stories for you to enjoy! Plus, a feature about the ongoing Ukraine conflict!
This issue marked our one-year anniversary of publication and celebrates the incredible women in our lives. This was our first issue with digital cover art submitted by a student and with a new design editor! We’ll miss Halliday, Katie, and Mariah, who have been such integral parts of our staff, but wish them well as they embark upon a new journey, turning the page to another chapter in their lives.
Issue 11 is all about reflection and introspection as we begin the new year. With a vivid main article and some wonderful poetry, global spotlight, and opinion articles, this issue will enthrall!
Issue 7 is all about positivity as we enter the new year 2022. With some super special articles and poems, issue 7 is sure to be a great read. You won’t want to miss this issue of iWRITER magazine!
The first issue of 2021 was themed around hope and optimism, the feelings all of us carried into the new year. Our editing team grew exponentially. This was the first issue that was circulated within several columnists’ schools, and it contains another example of beautiful cover art from a student outside the Youth Club!
Issue 10 highlights the importance of adapting to and embracing change — perfect for a time when the colors of the trees and the chill of the breeze are changing!
Our newest issue, hot off the press! Issue 6 is all about community service, offering the most theme-centric content we’ve had. Lots of personal experiences, team collaboration, lovely poems, and a super special announcement about the Youth Club Workshops! You won’t want to miss this issue of iWRITER magazine!
In September 2020, the iWRITER team reflected on the past summer of turbulence and unrest, and we decided to theme the second issue around acceptance. This was our first issue with student-submitted cover art, as well as the first issue with student columnists from outside of the iWRITE Youth Club and the Houston area: Lexi from Ohio and Vedant from Michigan. Op-eds were new this edition, too!
Issue 9 is all about the beauty of the summer season! This issue has some incredible poetry and community features.
It all began with an idea. In May 2020, the Youth Club decided to create a magazine by kids for kids, with the theme that loomed over our lives at the time: the pandemic. We put together the magazine on a web-based platform with a small team of editors doing double-duty, as design and copy editors. It was a unique journey to embark upon and we look forward to putting together more issues in the future!
